I'm looking for a new vise and I found this interesting vise test.

Other than the last one with the slanted jaw connections, it pretty much confirms what Dave and others like me who have reached a certain age would say:
They don't makem like they useta.
Super interesting and the link will get sent to all my mechanic friends and kids.
Don't want to break any of mine, but I'll bet they can't go above 3500 and stay OK.

I love to see testing like this! Thanks for sharing.
Maybe the most used tool in my arsenal has been my bench vice that I've used for over 40 years. My father-in-law gave it to me as a gift when I was about 20 years old, and it's held up great. I don't abut it like the testing video, so I don't know how it would fair under those extremes. It's a FULLER brand 5" with swivel base.

Very interesting I watched it all. I like the old Wilton bullet vises, plenty of old vintage stuff real cheap if you look. I really like the Fireball vise he made. https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=...p;start=40

That vintage Prentiss is beautiful with that snake oil bottle script.

Thanks for posting this. I enjoyed the first half and look forward to the second half (too many squirrels came across my screen and ADD kicked in). _________________ - Jim
