Hi guys, hoping someone can help. I removed the old radio from my 77/78 Beetle and have since discovered a wire that I am not sure where it goes. It is black with a very small connector about 3-4ml (1/8 in) and it appears to come from terminal 15 on the hazard light switch, where there is a green wire that splits with one part converting to this black wire. I initially thought it connected to the parking brake warning light but I understand this only has three terminals and all have wire attached (yet the light on this switch no longer works). This wire is live when the ignition is turned on. Very difficult to see where it should go and nearly impossible to remove these switches to see clearly, any help would be appreciated. |

Take a look at the wiring diagrams:
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/wiringt1.php
Terminal 15 of your hazard switch (E3) does in fact split from green to black, and the black feeds +12V to a number of warning lights with switched ground (K2-5) including your generator and oil pressure warning lights. _________________ 1976 Convertible Super Beetle, "June Bug".

It was for the internal light in the old radio. |
