Does anyone know if 5.25/16 Kubel tyres are stocked anywhere in the UK, or do I have to import from EU?
Thanks |

maybe see if https://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/ knows of any in the uk. otherwise it's a pain to pay the hefty postal rates from eu now
might be worth comparing prices from usa - exchange rate and post cost could make it worthwhile _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

yes but since we left the eu postal charges have rocketed - you wouldn't think we were the same distance away as we were before brexit! _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

Your right everything now plus 22%. I've had numerous items from Germany over the last few months & each time value equates to 22% making it expensive.
Items seem to be working out more than America☹ |

The thing is, now we're outside the EU, we should be able to buy stuff without VAT, but the UK will add UK customs + VAT when imported. It always used to be that we'd pay German VAT, and no VAT on import.
You need to ensure that the German side doesn't add VAT. They shouldn't be doing so, if the items are for export outside the EU:

Rejoin? A drastic step to buy a set of tyres! The tyres are made in the EU, and so would have to be imported from there one way or the other. |

Because it used to be that we could buy Kubel tyres from the EU, which would arrive quickly, and without extra tax and customs on top.
Now we can't, and it sucks. Leaving the EU was very bad for our hobby! @ZENVWDRIVER - yes please! |

It is still the case that you can order a set of Kubel tyres from the EU, and that they will arrive in around the same time frame as before. This is something I've been doing for over 30 years, and continue to do, so am fully aware of what goes on in practice. In fact, this topic has prompted me to order another set of tyres for stock, and all it requires, is one e-mail from myself. If anyone needs help in this regard, then please PM me.
There has always been a freight element to ordering any parts, from anywhere, especially bulky tyres, so no change there (depending on who you use), and when items are sold outside the EU, there shouldn't be any VAT element to the sale, because, as you rightly say, this is applied at import, along with import duty, which is the additional cost since leaving the EU.
My experience with import duty so far has been favourable, and never anywhere near as high as I had expected. What has changed in particular, as someone points out earlier, are the costs associated with general postal services, and where the opportunity to raise costs when sending to the UK have been fully embraced. This is where the real changes have arisen, and added cost to our hobby.
I recently bought 4 original Kubel wiper arms & blades from Germany (rare items - not Beetle items), total weight 200grm, which cost £30 to post! In contrast, before Xmas I bought 2 large rolls of carpet from Holland, for making Beetle carpets, total weight 52.9Kg, sent by Fedex, which only cost 65 euros to send.
In addition to buying VW bits over the past 12 months from the EU, we've bought all sorts of things for our business, from perfumes & medicines, to jewellery & clothing, and despite general ignorance in the 1st few months, things have now settled down. |

A French friend bought there and he is happy, they were sent in a week and they had the 5 units he ordered in stock, I don't know how it will be in the United Kingdom but in Europe they work well |

As I posted above, if anybody in the UK wants a set of Kubel tyres, then I can arrange this for them, and I don't make anything for helping people out. I did this recently for Sinclair, who started this post off above, and he has happily received a set within 2 weeks, with no complications, and at an excellent price. |
