Official term is called "Brush Guards"

Concur with Kenj06 with source. If you're handy at metalwork you can make them yourself. OEM brush guards function as flag holders as well.

Some civilian 181s came with the with the backing nuts in the front cowl already installed. Just have to drill in the correct location.

I would not think they would guard much of anything as they are going to snag on the brush you scrape past possibly adding to the chance of bending things. Maybe if you never go off road they would be okay.
