|
|
I am attempting to replace the shifter lights with new GW LED's. I am having difficulty in figuring out what appears to be parallel wiring. According to the instructions I need parallel connections.
I am hoping someone has photos on how to actually complete this set up. I also need new end connectors.
Thank you for the help.

Did you watch their installation video? Looks easy enough. |

Yes I viewed the video and it looks like I need 4 wires. Probably making it more complex than it really is. |

I was trying to wire in parallel and there was a small spark on one of my LED lights. The LED lights I am trying to hook up no longer work, and the ignition does not work. I have attached photos of my main battery under passenger seat and the back up battery. Is there a fuse that may have blown with these battery areas? All of my lights work except these shifter lights and the ignition. It won't even turn over.
Any ideas?

I am going to get a 12v tester and check each fuse peg to find out for sure. I do think fuse#3 was missing in fact. What does it mean if a fuse was missing and I installed? |

A missing fuse can mean:
1. The slot is intentionally vacant because an optional factory feature was not installed.
2. Fuse kept blowing and PO could not fix.
Determine what the circuit is for and install a proper sized fuse. Worst that happens is fuse might blow. _________________ “Most everyone’s mad here. You may have noticed I am not quite all there myself.” — Cheshire Cat, Adventures of Alice in Wonderland

Lots of folks take out the #3 and tap into the wiring to run off the Aux battery. It would depend on the wiring if they disabled the starter battery from being hooked up. _________________ '15 Audi A3 Quattro

My fuses light up. I tried to plug in my battery back up to replenish the batteries, but that doesn't work either. Would there be something with the battery connections? Fuse link? |

The fuse on aux battery works. There is no clicking when turn ignition, no sound, but all lights work interior, blinkers, headlights, and flashers all work. Is there a fuse of some sort on main battery under the passenger side seat. I see a red wire with a fuse link connection maybe. Would that be something? |

I figured out why would not turn over. My batttery and back up battery were both dead. This is interesting because I had headlights, blinkers, flashers, and interior lights. It was when I saw a dimming of lights that I decided to check the battery(should have been first to check). I re-charged and starts great.
Ok, on to the diagram I have added. This is showing the auto center console wiring diagram for the console lights. I am not sure how to read the diagram as far as determining which fuse handles these console lights. Does anyone know? I thought it was #3, but not so sure.
Thanks for the help as I am not that mechanical or electrical in abilities. |

After much needed help from a fellow Samba member I have completed the LED install on the auto shifter console. The correct Bentley page-diagram is 97.223 which shows the correct fuse #15 and 10 amp. My fuse 15 was blown which is now replaced. I completed some splicing and crimping to complete the parallel wiring and I now have bright console lights.
Thanks for all the help.
