Ghia stub shaft length

Restoring a 74 and decided to install discs in the back. The castle nut requires a spacer to work with the new rotors. Since my shafts are toast, I need new ones but I am wondering do they make a shorter shaft that would not need the spacer?

I've never seen shorter stub axles.

VW lists only one part number for the stub axle and it's the same for Ghias and Beetles.
