I have the 52-53 zwitter ignition, and have found a few places that can get me a key. But only if I'm pretty sure of what these numbers are. As they're pretty worn and scratched, and I'm not familiar with that typeface, I'm having a hard time being certain. Are any off you willing to give it a guess?
My first guess was P 50, but then maybe 59, or even 69.
What do you think? And thanks! _________________ modok wrote:

I would say P 50 but I can see why you think it's the other numbers. I would expect the top to be more curled if it was a 6 and a 9 would surely have better proportions and definition.
would it cost much if you asked for a couple of versions? _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

So yeah, after asking around, P 50 seems to have the most votes, so we'll see what happens. The blanks are $30 each for repops, and $75 for NOS so either way I'm not keen to waste them..
Someone did message me the cut code for a P50, which was awesome (THANK YOU!)
If I can get some more info on how the code translates to the cut profile I'll give it a shot. Nothing like hand cutting keys to make you feel like you've stepped back in time. _________________ modok wrote:

This is a tough one.
I would guess P 50 but the 5 looks like a little different than the 5 in my P 85 Barndoor pod ignition but not like it could be anything else.
As a comparison, my 85 numbers are not perfectly aligned so I don't think it's weird that they are not in line with each other.
I agree the "0" doesn't look like a 9 either but it also looks a little small to be a zero? Like it should be the same size as the 5. Weird... _________________ How to Post Photos

Jimone and Everett, thank you
Being able to see the "9" as stamped upon a different lock cylinder definitely makes me see 50 or 59 as possibilities
Waiting on some opinions and info to come back. I'll update my findings for the future keyless _________________ modok wrote:

No way that's a zero. It's too small. I clearly see the bottom leg of a nine below it, although it does appear to have been a sloppy stamp. _________________ Chris

Looks like it has served a life of HARD service! That face is deformed badly. I vote for a 6 on the first number and an 8 or a 9 on the second number.
What is the buy in? Where is the marker board? Who is running the table? _________________ Jimbo

We has a similar problem with our 1950 11G, years ago - I lost the key and wanted to make another - So after a couple of guesses and only 2 blanks left, we keyed that ignition, for a blank - removed all the lock-pins and it worked perfect - no one was the wiser...
… If you want an ignition lock, with matched key, johnshenry, in Massachusetts, has one for sale- we got the other one - good luck - z _________________ 5/50, pastel green 11G - SOLD

I actually have a very similar key I'm trying to identify, its an ignition with the matching key set with key code p-25, what's interesting is it looks like it is made for a push-button start because there is only an on and off position, any help on identification would be greatly appreciated

the VW_twin: P profile switches were used up to dec 53 for beetles and feb 55 for buses and therefore were used with separate starter buttons. _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut
