A practical advice after 32 years with my current beetle, the BP5HS is better than B5HS as it ignite 1-3% more fuel mix every time, due to the prolongued electrode (by1. 7mm) sparks more in center of the combustion chamber.
Denso is also good, the W16FP-U is also tested with success, equal BP5HS. |
Cant find W16FP-U on Denso's website. They say W16FSR is what works in an air cooled VW. The W16FP-U was on Ebay though! Both plugs have a cap on top which needs to be removable........... are they?, anybody know? All the plugs I ever bought had caps on the top, some would screw off, some would not.
EDIT : the W16FSR is a resistor plug, cant find all the specs on W16FP-U _________________ '73 super. |

Another option to NGK bp5hs (extended tip) are old Bosch W8BC spark plugs. W8B or W145T35 as they were named back in the day.

BP5HS is my preferred plug for our cars, and my local shops can all get them easy.
For the 1/2" diameter plugs with 3/4" reach in newer production heads DP6EA work well.
In all my cars I run NGK these days, I've found the quality very consistent and they tend to be very good overall in comparison to other brands. The coating on them tends to resist seizure and rust very well. _________________ 73 super beetle thread http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=649622 Back on the Road!

If you have 14mm and 3/4" reach try the BPC6ES, they have a 5/8" hex heave vs the 13/16 head which makes it easier to get a socket on with large manifolds.

Have you tried looking at the “NGK 1052” spark plug? It cross references as a B6HS-10... that means they should be B6HS spark plugs pre-gapped to 1.0mm / 0.040”. If you don’t mind adjusting the gap before installing them I imagine they will work the same. |
There is a guy selling a set of 11 of these plugs on ebay for $25, but he classifies them as marine plugs
https://www.ebay.com/itm/194398839887?_trkparms=am...%7Ciid%3A1
He's asking $10 shipping so $35 total for a set of 11, not too bad at a little over $3/plug _________________ I'm the humblest guy on this board.

What is the difference between the NGK 7534 (B6HS) and the NGK 1052 (B6HS-10)? _________________ I'm the humblest guy on this board.
