A good Kuebelwagen in the 1976 movie "The Eagle Has Landed". Movie is set in WW2 Germany, though this segment is in Great Britain.
The eye-patch wearing German officer Col. Radl getting into the left rear seat is actor Robert Duvall. Liam Devlin (Donald Sutherland) wearing the beige overcoat in background.

I think you meant to say the movie is set in england with the sequence shown meant to be the (occupied) channel isles.
this film (and novel it's based on) draws heavily from a 1942 film called 'went the day well' and is notable for having michael caine play a german - 'mai naime is kurt steinah!' _________________ "we're here on Earth to fart around" kurt vonnegut

Thanks for the clarification, finster; yes indeed. I did not watch the entire movie to hear the geographics, and IMDB was not clear on where these Kuebelwagen segments were set. |

In the humorous 1971 movie "Trafic" by French filmmaker Jacques Tati who also plays the policeman directing traffic, many vehicles are involved in small accidents which take place in the Netherlands. Red early 411 sedan in background in the rainy city, and drives past in the sunny city.
The red '58/'59 sunroof Beetle (ice pick door handles) with semaphore-delete side lights gets hit by the truck, then hit once again in the rear so that it rolls away and loses its spare tire. |

Watching the finale of the Spanish show "Casa de papeles"/"Money Heist" on Netflix, the protagonist drives to his final encounter w/the law in what looks like a '69 Bug. Given that it's European, there were some odd-to-me bits, but the car was a gem. What caught my eye even more though was the decklid script - "VWAutomatic". Not Autostick, but Automatic.

In the US, the Autostick was the semi-automatic transmission. There were still three forward gears, and a pedal-less vacuum activated clutch. A strange beast that had a manual transmission box AND a torque converter. _________________ Eventually, "we are what we pretend to be.’”

1972 Super Beetle in 1988 movie "License to Drive" filmed in Los Angeles, California. Les Anderson (Corey Haim) failed at passing his driver's license. He sneaks off from home in his grandfather's prized blue '72 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. At a police roadblock where a drunk man was in his yellow Super Beetle, the drunk gets out and drives off in the Cad. Anderson and his friends get into the Beetle and "chase" the Cad.
Some accomplished driving "for a kid" to catch the Beetle after this big drift.
Note that the Beetle has a poor satin-finish pale yellow paint job, covering the window seals, taillamp seals, and overspray on the front suspension bottom components. Even though the Beetle has the '72 4-column vented engine lid, the rear window size looks more like a '71 which did not come up as high as on a '72. The "half moon" air vents behind the side windows are also missing. |

Funny, my immediate thought at seeing the first two pics was, "was the car painted at Earl Scheib or at Maaco?"
