Tried looking up dash vin plate # but am supposed to have 17 digits
This is what I have > 1412741446 which should equate to 1971 coupe.
Don’t have engine # handy (cars in storage) but it’s an autostick
If it’s the original engine would it be a Type 3 with dual port heads?
Thanks

Not sure I'm following, but I have an idea...
Look here... https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/chassisdatingkg.php and find your number. Looks like a late '70 Ghia. _________________

141 = 71 Ghia
Engine is a type 1
Engine number likely starts with the letters AE, and is a dual port, dual relief engine
65 and later Ghias have 10 digit VINs, not 17.
Type 3 is a completely different VW model line _________________ Currently own:

The 17-digit VIN only started for 1981 per US motor vehicle federal standards, applying to new vehicles built in or officially imported to the USA. |
