very cool. I used to drive for Schenker. but my vehicle was a swap body unimog, Ruthmann Steiger like this one:
it could set a box on the ground and pick it back up, lift it high enough to walk under it.
used it for commercial deliveries, like SKF ball bearings, or bar steel, heavy machines, etc. could easily pick up a couple of tons. was effectively slower than a barndoor _________________ regards

They really went to town retouching this first bus. It is an early 1950 panel. They put upper panel vents on it, a ninth lower vent, slots on the wheels, A rear bumper, a slight overhang, late style sideview mirrors, and a different cargo door handle with a recess like a front door handle.

This, my dear yodeling friend, is one of the most popular Austrian Volksmusik bands of the 1950s and 1960s. Die Kern Buam ( The Kern Boys/Brothers). ( the guys in and around the bus, not the Tyrolean Lederhosen guy and his female singer partner). The Guy behind the bus is Fritz Edtmeier who was their MC and joke teller. A group from southern Austria, Styria, they brought traditional Austrian folk music to the new era of popular music and record business after WWII. They were literally International Stars in the German speaking community. Unfortunately they have all passed away since, but the group leader Sepp Kern's restaurant/hotel is less than a mile down the road from my place and still operating as a family business today.
Check out them Polydor bus hoodlums in action.

The lyrics are hilarious ! They are singing about a local tradition of 'Fensterln', meaning how the boys used ladders to climb up the windows of their future brides in the night, and somehow one of them accidentally mistook the buildings in the finster black night and got into the goat shack...
