Thank you for the info. You don’t happen to have any photos of split production in Ireland or South Africa? |

i have always wondered why people make fun of socks and sandals on Germans. Germany in it's entirety would be in Canada. It gets cold there people. Germany is literally NORTH of the Alps, as in north of Switzerland, north of Austria. Several countries north of Germany touch the arctic circle...
I myself do not wear sandals at all. more of a birkenstock man. |
Because sandals are associated with warmth, socks with cold. oxymoronic fashion? Looks goofy to a SoCal boy like myself that wears shorts and a T shirt with flip flops - all the fricken time Hallo, How are fings? Gut ja!

^^ that wouldn't be a straight body swap, it would need some work as the wheelbases were different...

Anybody who has been on the Vintage VW scene since the 1970 & 80's will remember Bob Shaill, who believe is still alive and well in Hastings, and will recall that he often had the oddball VW based vehicle in his collection over the years.
One of those was, and probably still is, a Steyr Baby based on a 51 Beetle chassis, which ws painted in sand colour, and which he took to various shows. In fact, the last time I saw him, years ago, he had the car in the German section of the War & Peace Show in Kent https://rove.me/to/england/war-and-peace-revival.
As luck would have it, at the time, I had a black, VW, dimpled gearknob in my pocket (as you do!) and noticed that was missing on Bob's car, and so I gave it to him (We did things like that back then!), and he fitted it there and then, and was so happy. I do have a picture somewhere, and must see if I can find it. |

I wonder that it's possible to install the Steyr on a VW chassis and that the axle distance is abolutely the same... |
