I am trying to find the tiny part like a c clip to hold e brake cable coming in on backing plate, anybody know where I can find them?

Those are a PITA to find.

What transmission and backing plates do you have?

There are large clips for small nut bus.
There are small clips for beetles.
There are the flat metal pieces for big nut bus.

Your picture looks like a beetle transmission, which would take the small beetle units.

this is what our VW parts supplier says>
As far as I know that's usually part of the cable assembly. They make the clip that Bus cables used now - I've attached a pic of it. I would think for the Beetle one you could just use a flat washer that's cut open with some tin snips- z
