Is there such a thing as a VW Type 1 with OEM 16" rims?
I swear I remember seeing rims and tires for sale on parts websites.
If so, what tires size are available? Where can I get them?
Thanks. |

Early split beetle and barn door bus had 16x4 with the 5x205 bolt pattern, so did early Porsche
Someone reproduces the wheels _________________ modok wrote:

The mechanics at work dragged these back from a field in Santa Cruz. 16" diameter and 4" wide

Ya, I donno what they are. I'm not offering them for sale and don't claim they're OG wheels. They just showed up and were being used to bend metal on because they had a nice diameter... _________________

Any idea where one would obtain tires for these? Preferably radials.

Those look to be Ford wide 5 wheel from the late 1930's. The 4 inch wide 16 inch diameter version was pretty common too. They where often used on old street rods for some stronger internals. It was my inspiration for running 14 inch stock and widened wide 5 Bus wheels on my Berry Mini-T. _________________

That makes way more sense. They also dragged back a '49 Mercury and a '30 something Ford roadster. Thanks EV! _________________
