Try contacting the Chairman of The Historic Volkswagen Club, or place an ad on their forum. Plenty of knowledge in the club, especially on the very early cars.

Alternatively contact “busben” on here. He is selling an early 49 with the small tank.

BR,

Rob

Tank is approx 500x305, the opening some 5 mm larger.

Note the round corners back.

Interesting...I had to do a double take on this.
My first thought: Something's fishy: paint is awfully shiny for the era of this car; and why no ID plate? Question
Then on second glance; I note its background - in a spray booth. Exclamation ...And those short neck tanks don't grow on trees. Shocked
Clarly a build in the works. And perhaps origin of your inquiry?
Rare one and hope you get the desired information and results.
Please elaborate and/or post more pics. Exclamation
You have my attention and interest,
Best of luck w/ it! Arrow
