Had this nos Generator for years. I just took a look at the codes and it looks like an early type three Generator. Excuse my ignorance I don't know a lot about type three's could it be industrial or something else? There is a VW logo on the side but no VW part number...

Your suspicion about the generator being Type 3 appears to be correct. The VW 1500 Service manual lists Bosch LJ/GEG 200/6 2600 R 29 as the correct generator for early Type 3's.
200W
6 volts
2600 rpm nominal
It should have a round hole in the side that sits on the fan housing cradle. The hole is for cooling air intake. The cooling air exits at the electrical terminal end of the generator. The pulley end of the generator does not have holes in it, forcing the cooling air to exit at the other end.
For sale?
Cheers,

Thanks for the info, appreciated. It came with a regulator in separate box I'll check the codes on that too. |
