Sounds like you've got it figured, but I'd love to see pics if you had time! _________________ 1974 Chenowth 2RL #1244 Street Legal

Will do! I picked this rail up a couple of years ago as a truck and trailer load of assorted parts. I already had a hot little Ford V6 with an adapter for VW transaxles. I've never built a VW based vehicle before but I had a background building competition engines/ tranys and electrical systems for Kawasaki. I finished putting it together but gave myself a low budget in case I didn't like it.
Well it turned out that I love it so now I'm rebuilding some systems and stuff that I skimped on before, using better parts this time around. One of those are the pedals and related systems. My current pedals are a mixture of fabricated parts mixed with old oem VW stuff. I had to mix and match and build to come up with a set of pedals.
It's going to be a while before I get to the pedals stage. I'm doing a major front to rear upgrade. |

Well OK then! Here's what I'm going to end up with. It turns out that I didn't order a Wilwood after all. It's an Allstar. Oh well. It fits, seems heavy duty and looks good. (I thought I got a really good deal on a Wilwood!) I did a bench top mock up and saw that the cable crosses over in front of the clutch pedal just under two inches from the floor.
Yes, all of the pedals are floor mount. The Aluminum floor plate under them has a thin steel plate over it for reinforcement. I can fabricate up a little heel kick plate for in front of the clutch pedal easy enough. That's all it's going to take to keep my foot off of the cable.
So! Thanks everyone for your help! Questions answered! |
Good to hear, they're usually fairly straight forward once you have them in hand to look at.
Careful with the front to rear rebuild, that was my ethos and it took me 10 years |

Yeah, isn't that the truth! lol. I've been making a list of stuff for the past year that I wanted to do to it. Some are big jobs but most are little jobs. I decided that this was a good time of year to do all of those things. It's a 100 plus degrees and really to hot to explore the Outback. (So called because it's right Outback of the house!) I'll get it done about the time it starts to cool off. I'll get her done! Thanks! |
