|

I have a leaky front wheel cylinder on my 1965 Square. While I am in there, it's probably worthwhile to rebuild both cylinders, and maybe even the left and right sides. The problem, of course, it getting new seals. However, I see that 22.2mm seals are readily available for certain Fiat and Mercedes models. In the pictures, the seals look the same/similar to the VW seals. It seems to me that they should work fine. Does anyone have any experience in doing this? |

A bit more searching, and I found them on West Coast Metric!
But I still wonder if the Fiat and Mercedes seals would work. I can't imagine that there is too much difference in wheel cylinder design. |

i would think they would work. 22.2mm is a common size. Rear type 3 wheel cylinders from 66 on are 22.2mm. _________________ 70 fastback automatic 06 invader |

If they look the same, they are probably fine.
I've bought new seals from NAPA before.
They were Bus and not Type 3.
I went in there with the size and a cylinder ready to do some searching and make sure they looked good but they were actually able to look them up so easier than expected. _________________ How to Post Photos

I think that 22mm translates to 7/8"
Try rockauto.com
Napa, they'll have the part, and should be able to look it up. There is much to be said for paying $5 more and being able to return it w/o a hassle, and to not have to wait for the part to show up. |

Exactly. I used the pistons as well since the stock ones needed to be removed with a light saber.
