I am in the process of fixing a lot of damage on this thing. Looks like it was hit multiple times and as you can see cut.

I obviously have to fix what is going on there but not sure what is correct.
I know I have a 72 1600cc but it has a single muffler double (short tip?)
Is the apron suppose to be flat or one outlet? Could I do double? Not sure where to go from here.

What your rear apron originally looked like is coved in the "Split Bus FAQ and How Tos - *Read before posting*" topic:
VW Bus rear apron comparisons

How you want to make it look is up to you. Stock is better for resale. But, as long as it doesn't look like it was trimmed with tin snips/jigsaw anymore, you'd be making an improvement.

The left half of the left cutout look unmolested to me... and maybe a tiny bit of the right 1/4 of the left cutout.
