Hi;

I was going to reuse my original headlight gear from my '74 standard, but it's so corroded I just can't. I bought a couple of the Empi 7" headlight buckets of Amazon of all places. They are definitely NOT a direct fit. I'm using aftermarket 7" headlights; however, I thought there was a standard for the tabs.

These new buckets just don't see like they will work without doing some cutting. Has anyone else used them? Or is there a better source?

Also, I don't think I'll be able to put the VW Eye brow thingy on it. I was going to mount the headlight assembly from the back and put the chrome ring through the hole. Any better ideas out there for mounting headlights to the fenders?

Exactly what FIBERGLASS are you trying to mount the buckets to.... Is it BAJA kit fenders...

But like anything aftermarket when mounting something in "KIT" fiberglass fenders you usually have to cut/file/grind/sand/drill/bolt to make it work... There is not anything that is exact fit without any mods...

I should have mentioned the kit.

It's the "Deluxe" kit from Glass Action fiberglass. I really do not want to try and weld a bracket onto the suspension and put a freestanding bucket through a hole. That version just doesn't sound appealing to me.

My cheap solution for now. 5-3/4" motorcycle headlight buckets, clip mounted from back side of fender...

Cheap also!
Buckets came from Amazon, and are also available in black.
All for less money than the garbage Empi buckets.
And, the Empi buckets did not have enough adjustment range for the fenders in my Mark IV kit. (At least not without significant modification.)

I liked how mine turned out but I had no other choice with a 1 piece front end. Brackets welded to front bumper and headlamps like whats used on the fiberglass buggies bolted to that.

I bought one of these for grins. The headlight spot is slightly recessed from the fender. I guess I was expecting it to fit perfectly in there. Maybe I'm expecting too much.

I had an idea though. The back of the bucket isn't "round" but I was thinking I could map out all the ridges and create a template on my 3d printer. Use that as a cut out.

In this picture, I noticed the nose looks like it has some cuts. Is that to make it easier to fit so it's not as stressed?

Can I send you a PM? I have gazillions of questions... Smile
