For this style of spare tire cover…
Has anyone here used metal grommets like this to make repairs? They are not the same, but maybe close enough to anchor the cover after being repaired…

the ones I have seen are usually too badly damaged to accept any repair. I found a good one and have it stored in a box in a cool dry place so I can use it when I sell the bus. Good ones are out there but a pain to find. Maybe rebuild the area with JB Weld first. The plastic is usually too aged and brittle to accept a plastic weld repair. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |

That aspect will be addressed. I’m just trying to find grommets that look and fit halfway decent and have uniformity. |

no reason why you could not use those, or get just a couple from your local auto upholstery shop if you don't want the whole batch. They use them on boat covers, tonneau covers, etc.. If the ovals don't fit the VW ones, then replace the part that is screwed to the deck also. A upholstery shop might have different sizes. _________________ “Most people don’t know what they’re doing, and a lot of them are really good at it.” - George Carlin |
