My guess would be 68-73 Standard, (not Super) Beetle. _________________ Come on, It's not rocket science. KISS |

The overall fender will bolt up to any Standard Beetle (not a Super 1302 or 1303) from 1945 thru 1977, which was the last model year for the USA. Likely it will also bolt up to later German built as well as Mexican-built Beetles. This means that all of the holes for the fender bolts will line up.
But- you probably meant, for what model years would this be a direct replacement. For that- 1968 and 1969, at least for US models. Reasons:
1. The large slot for the front bumper bracket would be starting with the '68 model year and the larger, C-profile chromed bumper. US Beetles used that slot from '68 thru '73. In '74 US Beetles used a hydraulic "ram" absorber for US federal bumper laws. That style needed a "rounded triangle" shape hole in the fender. European market Beetles maintained that slot like on yours thru the late 1970's, and likely even for the Mexi Beetles.
2. The turn signal is the "smaller" US style for '68 and '69. For 1970 we once again have federal requirements for side reflectors and turn signals, so that a larger signal assembly (often known as a blinker) was utilized. Also, Euro market Beetles kept that smaller style thru approx. 1975 when the turn signal was relocated to the bumper blade.
So- your fender would be a correct, exact replacement for a '68 thru '74 European-market Beetle- depending on the model years which used that beige color. |
