Because it’s a convertible with the top down you can get it moisture in the seats the holes let it breathe. |
Was the seat vents an oval era thing or did that continue into the big window era? |
My '63 had them... _________________ Thanks,

On a different subject now. I recently bought a reproduction right hand drive Zwitter/Oval glove box, from someone in Thailand, advertising them here on Samba.
https://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=2543887
When it arrived, it's obvious that it's well made, of sturdy construction, and tough enough to keep your tools in. However, when I tried to fit it last week, I found that just about everything is dimensionally wrong with it, and wasn't able to do so. Firstly the box is too wide, allowing the original to almost fit in it, whilst the glove box metal pivot metal supports rub on both sides of the boxes when in situ.
I do have the original (not such a wonderful condition after 70 years) and a good original, which I was hoping not to use, so know what originals look like. I wonder if the maker of these has actually seen an original? Top & bottom, where the box makes contact with the bodywork, the board is straight, whilst the repro item is curved in an arc on the top, and all over the place along the bottom. See pictures.
The original has a defined width on the bottom edge, with 90 degree corners cut into them, whilst the repro has nothing like it. I could go on, but wont.
I'm looking for refund through Paypal, and would advise anybody thinking of buying one of these, not to do so, until such time that the seller is able to offer something that resembles the original.

Tail lights seem a bit higher up than they should be
Front fenders dont seem to be correct. Dont have that rear bottom hump where it attaches to the running board |

I think it has something to do with the mounting flange on the fenders. I think they should have like a bead roll on the flange between mounting holes.
If I wrong someone will tell me. |

Yes, rear fenders should be dimpled and flange is parallel to curvature of fender.
The eggs is a nice touch but not time correct. |

[quote="56Cabrio"]If this was a true 57 RHD it should have have semaphores also the bullets are pointing to the sky. Cool car though !!
(This 1957 VW Oval Window is fully restored and is a RARE true original RIGHT HAND DRIVE car.)

Is it just me or does the pic of the underside of the motor show the passenger side sled mounted on the driver side at the rear. Makes for an odd way to direct air if that's the case. |

I’ve always wondered why people are always trying to trade a big for a bus. I know some say they’ll add cash, but I always wonder how much. This car is rough, and I doubt he’d get much credit towards a bus lol.

Nothing wrong with calling the kettle black, as long as it's a real kettle.... Some snowflakes get upset at such prices.... but I'm sure if they had them, they'd do the same. |
