So I just got my engine installed and the left tin appeared to be lower than the right. I have the frame on jackstands so I measured from the 'level' cement floor to the end of the frame horns and they measure the same. I also measured from the floor to the trans cradle and each side measure the same.
But, if I measure from the floor to the base of the valve covers, or oil sump, etc. the left side is about 3/8 low. So I think this discrepancy has to be between the cradle mounts and the trans. Has anyone every seen this and/or what did I miss? I am thinking about loosening the cradle to trans mounts and gently jacking up the left side. Bad idea?

Thanks

Measure from the floor to the lower engine mount studs through the trans bellhousing.
I bet that the bellhousing mounts are bad.

Thanks. Mounts are new, but I am guessing my tightening pattern was wrong. Engine out again Sad.

Update:
I ended up just loosening the trans mounts, the actual cradle bolts to the frame horns and the front trans mount bolts. Just doing that almost got the trans where it should be. THere was enough play through all the bolts to make up the difference. I didn't really even need to try and move the trans, I just tightened the right side mounts first and that basically corrected the rotation.

You can also notice that I put 2 starter bolts wrapped with masking tape into the upper bell housing bolt holes as a place to set a level (not shown).
