So, as promised, the work on the driver's side!

After a bit of Paint/gravel protection removal, it wasn't looking promising:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And not much better without the jack point triangle :
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

So I prepared the floor pan:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And made some cut:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Now I could see the damages better:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

So I made a template :
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And the part, from cutting to adjusting to welded:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Then some repair on the inner firewall:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And the pan:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And its reinforcement:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And the triangle, no chance to repair the old one so I made a new one:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And that is one side done:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Stay tuned

Antoine

So, next I fixed the clutch tube.
First the part on the firewall, I don't know what a PO was thinking with this thick piece?!
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

So I removed it and found a damaged firewall:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

So removing what is damaged:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Making the patch:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Adjusting:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Welded:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And the front fixation, cut the access :
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

The issue:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Welded (pic was ongoing, I welded the whole length but forgot to take a picture):
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And closed:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Stay tuned

So, I then worked on my engine side panel:
Adjusting:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Then the necessary holes:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Then the sealing guide:

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

A before-after:

And in place :

So, I think the next step was quite logical..the battery tray Very Happy
I did built it by hand couple months ago:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

So it was time to adjust and weld it, first the bottom part:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And then the top:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

All done and all fits great:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

I then found one last hole on the firewall:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

That I welded close:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

And now we have a nice engine bay/right long:
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Starting to look good!

Looking great. What do you think about laying a mat of fiberglass and resin on the battery tray so it will resist acid?

Thanks Very Happy
No, no resin or fiberglass. I am using a sealed battery now so nothing should go out, and I protected the area with several coats of paints+will keep an eye on it so not stressed for the future Wink

I've been reading it too, always interesting stuff and nice work!

I'm not super familiar with planishing, are you working it from the other side too or just smoothing it from the outside?

Thanks a lot Everett for following along 👍👍
For planishing: I am no expert so might not use the professional technic but I am using the die you see as the flat counterpart against which I hammer the weld distortions flat (either with alloy hammer, a small steel hammer, a flat "planishing spoon",...or whatever does the job Embarassed )

So here some fresh paint!!

And the engine is back in:
