My Bug has come out of hibernation after two years and I'm chuffed to say after a new battery and priming the fuel pump it started start up and was running beautifully! Before taking it for a ride I did some of the usual checks starting with the lights.
Head Lamps fine with side lights, dipped and high beam all working great.
Tail lights not so great, so I have the original all red rear lights. They seem to be lit up from the moment the engine is switched on, pressed the brake pedal makes no difference.
The front Indicators are also an issue the passenger side seems to be flashing fairly dim and the driver side barely at all with the odd flash.
The taillamp appear to flicker a touch when you press the brakes.
Whilst the car was running I put the voltage meter on the battery and dynamo and it was reading 6.38v at idle.
After a two year break from the scene, my knowledge has just melted away, if anyone can give me some pointers on where to start I would really appreciate it! |

Clean the bulb contacts and the bulb soldered points. Mine get a little corroded, after the car has set for a long period of time.
Also, it's always said, in 6v systems. Good grounds are the key to bright indicator lighting. _________________ I have learned over the years.
