202k miles on car. Engine totally blown, overheat, water damage, doesn't crank.

Neighbor (you out there? Smile ) suggested a manual jetta engine would work.

I found a perfect 2002 eurovan engine but seller insisted on going outside of ebay AND found a 'magical' buyer 5 minutes after I said we'd have to use ebay.

So aside from scams, maybe there's one 2002 compatible engine available in the USA.

So... looking into the manual transmission from another car.

Anyone with _direct_ experience with this kind of transfer into a Eurovan? Seen the second hand stuff on interwebs but not first hand.

Thanks!!!

A Mk4 24v BDF VR6 longblock is a bolt in solution, but all the intake, exhaust, oilpan and peripherals need to be bolted on from your AXK.

I have a new BDF crate engine in our EV weekender. It's the auto engine so there is a missing bolt hole but I do not care at all. The AXK engine got refurbished and will sit as a spare.

I would strongly consider having the trans rebuilt and some suspension work done (ball joints/sway bar mounts/steering rack mounts, etc) while the engine and trans are out.

All the best. --jb
