Lost my 72 in a fire in Oct and of course I miss it...alot!!! The market is so ridiculously high right now, replacing it is gonna be tough. I'm really not looking for a big project. Any thoughts or feedback about the late model
Brazilian buses I see listed kinda cheap. Being a skeptic, they seem to good to be true.

I'm not sure that they are cheap after you factor in shipping, duties etc.

I've considered importing a 1998+ Brazilian model bus because it's closest to the late bays we got here stateside. Next year they'll be 25 years old and able to be registered easily. Right now I'm seeing decent ones online in Brazil for the equivalent of about $5 - $7K.

I think the guys at Danbury sell the newest ones. They do camper conversions in house as well.

assuming you are in the US, make sure that anything you buy meets ALL the requirements for any state you might live in. California is the tail wagging the dog these days and here you would have to show it met smog requirements for a 1998 vehicle. Unless someone has already gone thru that process on a 1998 Brazilian Bay, and established what that type bus needs to pass so it is already in the BAR system, you would be the guinea pig. It would not be cheap. I think California would also require crash certification so you'd likely have to buy 10 of them and prove thru crashes they met standards - basically California doesn't care if it 25 years old. The state can make its own rules. Since other states can too, make sure any state you live in is not one of those.

If you are looking for a unique vehicle, as a brazilian, i suggest to you a VW kombi, 1998 CARAT model!

You can see more details of this model on the links bellow, the video shows more details about others rare brazilians models, like "Serie Prata" (Silver Serie, the last ones with aircooled engine) and 50 anos (model to celebrate 50 years of productions).

I think it is way simpler than that. VW didnt import a 1998 Bus to meet CA emissions, so it stops there.

Well with the way prices are going here for rusted out ones, these prices are appealing even if just to import a decent body. I'm not sure I would want to wade through the importing process, but it might be worthwhile.

There was a guy on here active for a while who imported two busses from Brazil to his dad in Canada I believe. I have been trying to get a hold of him recently but no response. Last we chatted he said he lives in Brazil

His name on here I think is - The Canadian
