this one has been posted before. The business is a roofing business.
Dachdecker would be a roofer,
Dachdeckermeister would be a master roofer.
Bauklempner means plumber, but in this scenario i would expect them to do metal roofing, gutters and those kinds of work.
Plumber would just be a Klempner. Then again, these kinds of businesses changed what they are doing over the last 70 or so years. _________________ regards

I remember reading the article about this bus and its operator a few years ago- here it is- https://www.bild.de/auto/mobilitaet-reisen-motorra....bild.html
Summary: 89 year old (in 2019) Heinz Scholze was a career police officer, and among the first in the state of Lower Saxony to be trained on vehicle radar in 1961. At the end of each shift, Heinz took down the radar setup and drove the bus back. The bus was used for this until 1964 when it was sold to an omnibus transport company in Hanover, which intended to remove the Telefunken radar equipment and convert it to passenger transit use. That never happened in over 2 decades, and was recently "found" in this condition. It is now in VW's historic collection. After installing a new battery and performing an oil change, it started immediately. The radar equipment is not only still functional, but still maintains its measurement tolerance of 3 km/h (just under 2 mph). |

This must be one of the most joyful and artsy 51 pics. so good !!! just that good !!!
antenna, accessory Edelweiss horn, VW dealership badge on dogleg, open door, luggage on a chromed roof rack, Almrausch flowers, boy in Lederhosen, happy girls, summits, snow, 16" Conti tires....got it ALL !
I am not even talking ribbed, riveted semaphores or satin finish VW center hubcaps and deep skylights, piano hinge quarters....
Now I have to lean back, take a rest and catch my breath.

First time I remember reading this type of horn. djford, do you know why is it called "Edelweiss"? If you want to explain better in German, pls send me a pm and I'll translate for the readers here. |

No Problem. Edelweiß (Say: A - del vice) is the name of an Alpine flower.
There was an Italian Company that produced accessory horns, looking exactly like the one in the pic, and they called it 'Edelweiss'. Possibly the company was from southern Tyrolia, which is part of Italy and in the Alps. these snail housing type with the typical snout can be found on many early bus in vintage pics.
I have a NOS set of these.
Other companies certainly made their own similar versions.
