1978 ex german military radio thing. No longer has the 24v radio stuff.
The car must have a later version relay and It allows the headlights to flash with the turn signal lever by pulling it even with headlights off and key off/ out of the ignition switch.
Found the car this morning with headlights on and high beam blue light on in the speedo.
Pulling the turn signal lever switched the light off and a click sound is heard(relay working..?)
However, in a few seconds the click happens again and lights go back on. Pushing the turn signal lever in also makes the lights go off momentarily. Then back on they go.
It seems like the turn signal lever needs adjusting. Its activating the relay even after it deactivated the relay initially. Is there an adjustment for this? Since this dimmer works without the key in the ignition or the light switch on, this condition drains the battery..
Do I need a new turn signal switch..? Are they the same for later things as for usa things..?
The main headlight switch is a military looking switch, that turns right/left, not a pull/push regular civilian switch..
Thank you for any help |

Is there a way to remove the housing around the turn signal switch on the steering column inorder to troublesheet it? Or does the steering wheel need to come off? |

The "S" wire on the relay is what triggers the relay to switch from Hi/Low or Low/Hi. It appears that wire is picking up a random short to ground. You could try disconnecting the "S" wire from the relay and seeing whether the problem continues. If it continues, I'd suspect the relay is faulty. If it doesn't the it has to be the trigger wire or the dipper switch (on the turn signal switch) that's having issues. _________________ Walküre Restoration Thread: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=737492 |
