Yes. I think the drop of 2 inner splines is equal to 1 9/16ths of an inch, while 2 splines outer is equal to 1 3/4 inches (maybe it's the other way around). It's been a while since I've dropped a front, as the last one I did was my 64 T-34. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

When I dropped the rear I left the front around 1* nose-high. As it turns out, the left and right torsions were not equal either.
The car is now dead level front to back and side to side.
I know lots of people want the (slight) nose-down stance. And I may change it at some point. It's easy because - type-3
But at this point I don't want to risk the tire catching the fender lip.
In other news, I got a call from Logan Kinney up at Sewfine. My carpet and carpet padding is in and the seats just shipped from CA.

If it's level now, you might want to take it out for a drive and see if it'll settle some. That could change a few things on your plans to proceed with whatever you want to do next regarding the suspension.
I know when I reset the rear of my 71 Notch, I was back in there a day or 2 later resetting it again, as it was hitting the top of the inner fender wells (dropped it just a little too much). Keep in mind that you can do both inner and outer spline moves (a combination drop) to get it exactly where you want it (if it's not where you want it already). _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Thanks Bob. When these wheels and tires were on the square the front outside tire would occasionally snag the fender lip if I backed up and turned with too much aggression. That tended to get the front bouncing a bit. But they were a little lower then.
So yeah, this is where I'll start. Next week if the weather cooperates I'll take it down to the cop-shop for the VIN verification. Then I can insure and register it.

Question. I have two m4 taps. One has a pitch of .7 and the other .75. Which would be correct for these tabs? I'll be buying fasteners tomorrow.

My wife's 70 Fastback used small sheet metal screws there on 1 side. On my 71 Notch, I used small stainless steel screws there, and had no issues. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Yes, the stock screw looks like a sheet metal screw. It has the look of an import "hack"!
I never liked that, so if you are re-tapping it, choose screws you like (preferably stainless) and then tap to wait. Keep spares in the ashtray or glovebox, or taped in a baggie in the headlight bucket, because later on, no one will know what you used, and strip it out with a sheet metal screw! |

How do you like the fir? Does the inner contour of the bumpers flow with the body? _________________ I'd be UNSTOPPABLE if not for Law Enforcement and PHYSICS.

Fastbacks don`t use pinchwelt on the quarter windows. _________________ If you`re going to do something, do it right. |

Stationary windows don't use pinchwelt, they use the seal to hold the headliner material in place. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
