Post some pictures so we can help you remember the pleasure and forget the pain. I think I read that in Forum inthe 1960s
Sales tax is the Buyers problem , not the Sellers. I live in an extreme high tax state but 8+% won’t break a deal for me |

In NY you pay on the value or on a signed bill of sale declaring the actual sales price.
The equivalent form in RI is T -334. If you cheat on this you are a tax cheat. |
The Man should have no part in taxation profits on a private transaction between individuals selling used goods to one another. |
It has already had sales tax paid on the original purchase. Just another way to shaft us. _________________ My cut in half and rebuild thread

Omg, this is still being kicked around? Pay the tab and figure out another way to mess with the system. How much is hot air worth?? |
Woah there - I was simply updating the thread with (1) the actual NADA value assigned to the van and (2) the difficulty finding a dealer to do the appraisal. In case someone else from RI wants to buy a similar van. You know - information.
There are so many dead-end threads on this forum I wasn't about to let this one not have some closure. _________________ 85 1.9L GL Tintop |

Varys by state, but sales tax is due on every retail transaction, so unless you are in the business of selling stuff, it’s due on each transaction, not just when new. About half our garage sales in our neighborhood collect tax, usually because they are either State employees or lawyers and have to be clean on legal matters.
Thanks for closure on the tax and assessment procedure in RI! _________________ .ssS! |
