Hi
Just thought I'd ask quickly. Stock 55 bus with fuel reserve valve. I rebuilt it with a WW kit over the winter and installed all new fuel lines at the same time. Finally got the bus back together and am getting no fuel. There is none in the lines, I've separated them and checked. Tank is over half full with fresh fuel.
The problem I presume must be in the fuel tap or my rebuild process. There is no fuel coming out in any of the 3 positions (on, reserve or off). I will siphon the fuel and remove the tap I guess.
My question is, could I have screwed the rubber washer up when rebuilding the tap and moved it out of alignment or something? I thought it only went basically one way so I am surprised to have this problem. It's not the first tap I've rebuilt either... I love doing a job twice.... |

Hey Eric, make sure the brass tubes aren’t clogged up. I’ve found that to be the cause most of the time. _________________ 58 Coral Red ragtop(Diana's car)

I rebuilt a fuel tap on one of my buses years ago, I had the same problem. It was the rubber washer piece in my case, it had moved out of the correct position upon reassembly. |

If you remove the lower tube, you'll have around 2+ gallons of reserve.
All that tube does is allow water to settle in the bottom of the tank. I'm sure your using the fuel sock, which if your tank is relativity clean is all you need IMO. _________________ WANTED:

To close the loop on this I siphoned most of the fuel out and drained the rest and removed the tap. Took it apart, rubber seal with holes was fine. There is really no way for it to move. I think with my particular brand of tap (og 4/55 bus with Karco tap) its possible to install some of the parts 180 degrees out which blocks the fuel. Not 100% sure as when it came apart it sprung apart on me and pieces went everywhere. So i didnt get to se it as it came apart. Put it back together as looked correct and now works fine. Bus runs great. Interesting to note too that it was different than the exploded diagram in my 1955 workshop manual. Several different pieces. |

thanks buseric! Thats exactly what I needed.
Definitely mines is longer than that, I wait to empty the tank a liitle bit an will cut it down.
Yeah right, I've also been thinking on making the short one even shorter, right I do use the sock _________________ Aug '58 pressed bumper SO23
