I agree. I guess with the back up lights and brackets, there's some extra value there but the condition is not up to the level I would expect for that kind of money.

The good news is that it doesn't appear to have been an extremely large tree.

There's no shortage of Karmann Ghia doors available at reasonable prices. This one must be special to be worth $800 or maybe in Australia there's not much selection and that makes it worth more??

Rare car, but I’d say priced twice what it’s worth. Metal work done 30 years ago is highly unlikely to be up to the standards people expect today.

This one is still listed....shocker! Rolling Eyes

But in THIS guy's over-priced Samba classified listings, he's actually RAISED the price up from $50K a little over a year ago to $75K today!! WTF?! No new pics, same text in ad, just a new 50% higher price thrown in to entice buyers he couldn't get at $50K! Laughing

I had one not so great experience with Lewis.
I bought Solex core that I discovered was incorrect for my Ghia. It was my fault for not understanding the differences in the various PICT-1's I called and emailed to see if I could send it back for a refund or exchange. He was quick to sell but if you ever have an issue you will not ever hear back.
He has a few pricey items that I would have liked to have bought. As soon as I see Lewis is the seller I just skip it.
Shame, he could to a brisk business if he has just a bit of people skills. Rolling Eyes

He probably got people wanting to buy it at $50K so he raised the price.

I have heard of him doing this with multiple parts ads in the past if he had too many inquiries.
Too many emails = It was priced too low so I'll raise the price instead of selling it.

What school of economics is that? Pricing as high as the market can bear would work only with high volume high demand. Must have not made graduation. Rolling Eyes Laughing

Presentation kinda sucks... the photos show a half covered object with boxes on top of it. Doesn't suggest well kept now, does it?

Yet another “hardly any bondo” used claim on a car with no trim holes, no rocker seams and no torsion bar cover!
Plus “original” usually mean original color and interior combination…

Looks like the entire body is just caked in Bondo!! I bet where the front grills were located is not even welded up with a panel, it's probably just half a can of Bondo in each hole...Definitely abortion material!

Doesn’t look like a bad car but the claim that it is original is outright bull crap. The interior is completely redone and as usual, incorrectly.

The Alex Manos Ghia is built to "supposedly"mimic the earliest of Ghias. Beverly Hills Car Club has brought the BIGGEST TURD here to The Samba. Nothing good will ever be said about this Ghia. Original, yea i bet it has at least 10 gallons of Bondo on it. It seems like every square inch of it is cracking. He, Alex Manos says it could use "some light cosmetics".

This might rank as the biggest sack of b.s. misuse of “original” I’ve seen. There is nothing original on this car.

Again…no originality.
Are all these guys who went custom now realizing there is more money in a stock restoration so they are now trying to redefine original?

Should say "Original upholstery shows nowhere".

Original paint? Say, didn't the engine compartment surround panels also have the same body-color paint as the rest of the car? Confused Why don't we see the hole in the rear quarter panel used to mount the factory-installed US-spec round reflector? And that peeling black paint beneath the engine lid latch?

If the seller would've represented it as, and stated "mild custom"; then most of the above criticisms would no longer apply. The interior is actually quite handsome, though the sun glare in the windshield from the light colored dash top would be significant.
