Is that how that built them back then?
If so, what do you suppose the logic was behind that decision?
(The driver should be actively using both arms to drive, and never "resting" one of them on an arm rest? Smile )

Yes that's correct. Why? Your assumption is also probably correct.

Jerome posted it on page one but it was photobucket illegible until he added the same pictures to the gallery. So understandably you did miss it.
2nd July 1959 is the date, and your assumptions about the dash top therefore are valid. I've updated his original post so it links the "nice" picture.

I'm with Dave having low regard for Photobucket.

Now that is really cool because our ghias are only 2 months apart for each other and were delivered to the same place! They might have met in another life, yours being cared and mine becoming..well the rusted bucket Laughing

Hi

Would you post a picture of the grab handle on the dash please. I would like to finish mine in the correct style.
Thanks

yes, I do not have a dash pad but I do have a grab handle and it was likely covered at one point but now, freshly painted and I'm wondering what it was covered with or what colour. Is yours simply a black cover to match the dash pad?

Grab handle should be painted body color with the center covered in the same vinyl as the seats.

No problem Dave.
BTW there's a guy on the Samba who sells the rubber gaskets for the handles. I think he advertises in the Ghia classifieds. I bought a set, they fit nice.

That is a beautiful car. Amazing survivor. So increible to see how well the interior has survived. I bet you don't see too many Low Lights in Quebec. Where are you in Quebec. I'm in Vermont but I come from Thetford Mines, Quebec.
