here some Pictures of the work done before the Trip.....

And so we (a friend with his 67 Double Cab and me) started the trip at 3 in the morning with strong rain heading up the north direction....
it was a distance of ~800km to Hessisch Oldendorf to the famous Vintage Volkswagen meeting,
the SC runs very good the most time,
but yes there was some Problems getting popped up after some hours i run out of gas,
i pull the reserve but it still get no gas,
so down from the motorway and stole some gas with a tube and a bottle from the 67 to get the Sc to the next gas station.
it make me nervous but after that o looked to always had enough gas with me and we finished the way up after ~12 hours of driving with only some small stops to get some gas, and beer while waiting in a traffic jam.

And so we had a very good time in hessisch meet some old and new VW friends (would love to have more time for talking the next time) and see some very cool cars and bought some nice stuff at the swapmeet.
HO22 was the best organized VW show i ever see!

After this very cool weekend we sadly had to start the way Back to Austria...

Anywhere near Kassel after ~100km of driving, the engine starting to make some problems, at full power and full pressed gas pedal mostly on upward street it had no power anymore and i lost speed very quick, on flat streets it gets worked again and so on...

after some dangerous situations we started to find the issue, started with change the fuel filter, tested the fuel pump, installed a gas can on top of the load bed instead the gas Tank, changed every part i bring with me, for example the spark plugs, the cables, the coil, the distributor....
at least after anywhere 6 hours of repair, drove some meters and repair again i completely disassembled the carburetor on the load bed and washed everything, i wasn't able to find any problem but after i installed the cleaned carburetor again it runs good, after some adjusting we went back to the motorway and drove the whole night back to Austria.

Early in the morning the next day after ~18 hours of driving and repairing we arrived back home without sleeping one minute Laughing

here are some pictures of the road trip, the repairs and the parts i bring back from this "holiday"

i hope you enjoyed this little documentation of the Test Driving with my Single Cab

Glad you made it home safely!

I saw your SC at HO. What a nice car and outstanding work! Unfortunately I missed you. I would have loved to chat a bit. Well, I probably missed many others too, as I was pretty hypnotized of all those incredible cars and the special atmosphere.

It was a great show indeed!

See you next time...

What a great shakedown run! Glad you were able to make it there and back under it's own power.

I've got to ask... what's going on in that photo with the generator suspended by zip ties?

Great up date and heresy scores from HO22!

I carry a small can of compressed air in my spares kit which is crest for blowing out muck from carb jets.

Great seeing you and Philip at HO and meeting Andreas. Probably had crap in the main jet.
Too bad you didn’t buy a NOS 28 PCI carb at HO for a backup!
Glad that you got it running, but man, what a grueling drive. Great stories for later though..

In somehow missed you and your SC completely.

Glad you made it back safely. And even better on you own power and not on a trailer like so many.

I must be getting old, I would have made an overnight stop either way.

no, i have one in stock but forgot to install it.

In former time they also don´t have that, so it should work?

But i would install that part at the new engine once it´s ready!

It’s gotta help. If the rings are worn there’s going to be a lot of case pressure and that oil is going to want to go somewhere. The baffle at least helps keep some of it back where it belongs.

I'm so sorry that I did not run into you and your beautiful SC during the H-O weekend. We drove in the "BBT Convoy" (Bob again loaned me his 1958 Double-Door 23-window Deluxe Sunroof Microbus for the Europe trip) from Belgium arriving on Thursday evening, then departing Sunday afternoon to hang out in Wolfsburg for a couple of nights. Was your SC registered in the show downtown or parked elsewhere in town or in the campground? I hope that I took photos of it!
