Todays workers have no idea about work ethics, but a lot of them have college degrees I'm told. |
Yeah, and from the society where grade point averages have soared, but the students know way less, as evidenced by standardized tests such as SAT.
It's called grade inflation, no flunking, and other $%^$@$^%$@ names. |
Keep in mind who made this the “No flunking, everybody gets a participation ribbon” culture. It surly wasn’t the 6 year olds demanding it. It was the generations before who gave it to them, and now seem to bitch about how ‘special’ and ‘delicate’ these kids are.
As for these medical issues, I can’t even imagine. Granted, I live in a different country than (I think) everyone else who’s posted. But I had a baby born premature. It involved 13 ultrasounds, multiple lab tests, an air ambulance flight, surgeries, weeks of NICU stay etc. If I had to guess, I’m sure it would have been a million dollar tab. And even though it sounds absolutely ridiculous, you know my total out-of-pocket expenses, and what I incessantly complained about? The $13 a day I paid for parking at the hospital.
I’m not trying to politicize this thread at all. But it’s funny to see how sometimes you don’t know how good you’ve got it.
If a football / baseball / hockey / basketball player can make $30million a year, I think doctors, nurses, surgeons etc are worth whatever the hell they want to be paid. |

No.....not everyone is. But I guess when it comes to sacrificing other items (like expensive cell phones, cars, cable channels, eating out, vacations etc) for your health it would seem to be an easy choice.
Most employers offer HSAs that have both tax benefits and added incentives.
It not easy watching any of my savings dwindle especially knowing it won't make a difference and I am taking from my wife's future nest egg but my wife wants me to be here for as long as possible and if thats gonna cost me $10k-$20k over the next 12 months or so then thats what we will do. |

The Healthcare industry got hammered just like many others. It didn't help that there were restrictions put in place during Covid that only allowed doctors to see four patients in person a day. (That's what happened here in CA).
Now there is a huge backlog of demand, and still a shortage of doctors and nurses.
I have Kaiser Permanente CA South, and it is the best insurance I've ever had. Before Covid, I could get an appointment in days, and a specialist within a week.
I had to have emergency back surgery for a very serious injury and total out of pocket was less than $1,000 for over $400,000 in services.
They never denied any request I've made for myself or my kids, they are always on time, and getting routine stuff took minutes. Once I walked in to get lower spine x-rays and blood work. I was back to my car in 22 minutes.
Now the backup is being delt with, and we have less doctors and nurses due to insane mandates and a general lack of qualified personnel to fill jobs.
Everything is backed up. You can't stop all the trains for a year, then expect everything to catch up like normal. It's going to take years.
Hell my Wednesday flight got canceled, and I couldn't get a new flight until Friday. Anyone know where there are a bunch of pilots just hanging out needing jobs? The airlines are desperate. |

can't get blood from a rock.
your average American can't afford that. it has nothing to do with cell phones (poor handling of money-yes) but many families still live paycheck to paycheck and it's only gotten worse under this current administration.

Oh it will be sold. My wife doesn't like driving it. My son lives in the city with no place to park it. And my winter car will be sold as well. Both are being transferred to my wife so she will have the titles in her name to ease the process.
$10k for maybe 18 months of life with my son and wife....Its a small price to pay and if I didn't have it I would find a way to get it. |
