I am needing to get my hands on the M8 studs that are mounted on the sides of the head, that the exhaust bolts on to. I'm searching on WW and Jbugs, obviously i'm not searching for the right name. I am finding nothing.

I looked in the parts catalog, and I see part #N144434 (exhaust flange stud). that doesn't exist on the online store.

anyone know where I can find these?

M8x60mm

Get them at any ACE Hardware store. They have them in the aisle with the trays of small hardware.

Think about using some anti-seize and smaller brass/copper nuts when you install your exhaust. You will thank yourself later. And plan to retighten them in 500 miles. Don't just overtighten them up front; use the correct torque and recheck in 500.

I did use brass nuts on my beetle, specifically where the manifold bolts to the heads. You'd use brass for this location too?? (Where muffler bolts to head)

These might be actually 38mm long.

Help section of parts store. Ace Hardware. 8mm x 1.25mm x 38mm long.

I use m8 jet nuts. They have a 3/8" hex head and flange.

I use the brass nuts shown in Glenn's picture above which use an 11mm wrench for the exhaust.

I use JIS Japanese steel nuts for stuff where clearance is needed, use a 12mm wrench.

All he shows are 8mm x 1.25mm thread.

if I can't locate a 60mm stud for this exhaust stud replacement, what is the shortest one that I could get and not have any issues?
and what is the reason behind the stepped center?

Get a m8 bolt and cut the head off.

These might be actually 38mm long, about 1.5 inches long.

Help section of parts store. Ace Hardware. 8mm x 1.25mm x 38mm long.

Or place a steel nut on a 8mm x 1.25 fully threaded bolt and cut off the head, then turn the nut through the cut portion.
