Spent Sunday working on the '54.

Fitted two mudguard beads, one (useless) running board, bonnet (hood) seals, painted a couple of fittings and swapped my front seats around just in case I had them on the wrong side cauzing my seat angle problem ( I didn't).

I know there are badly made running boards out there but never thought the boards sold by Australian retailers would be a problem.

What is the point of sending out useless products?

I spent a lot of time trying to see if I made the problem or if I could think of a work around.

Contacted a mate who is a VW Professor and he said to throw them away.

Pretty disappointing.

How hard would it be to build them correctly?

Sorry to say they look terrible. The profile is all wrong and the board should run close to the guard as in the second photo. Did you try Vic at Vicsbahn, he will help you.

They are unusable, cannot help but wonder why they would think anyone would want them.

I will ring them today (Monday) to see what they say. I suspect they won't want to know. Will let the community know the outcome.

Thanks for the information re Vic.

OK egg on face time.

Contacted the supplier who took the problem very seriously. He stated that he has sold a lot of these boards and no complaints.

Sent photos back and forth and discussed the situation.

I then tried the LHS board which fitted really well.

My RHS guard (fender) has a seriously tight radius cauzing the huge gap.

Rang the supplier and apologised for wasting his time and for cauzing the problem.

He was most magnanimous in accepting my apology.

I will be buying from him whenever I can.

Now I have to try and sort out the dodgy guard.

Red faced Mark.
