This pic is so interesting of days gone by, a scrap yard with antiquated equipment, with no safety measures/protection that would be required nowadays, not to mention the platform. The 2 men,are they using two different levers to operate the claw?
And the nose is just eye candy! _________________ .

Very hard to read, since this seems to be a colorized pic. ÖBB on the car means this is the Austrian Rail service ( Österreichische Bundesbahn).
The drivers door says something like Transporth***? Name and adress are not readable.
I believe the long panel reads Goiserer Knirps. Meaning that it is a local reference to Bad Goisern, a community in Upper Austria, and famous for the Hallstatt lake and their handcrafted leather Mountain hiking shoes who are also called Goiserer ( speak goy-say-rah) (colloquial Austrian German for walking boots). Knirps means dwarf, midget. referring to the Kleinbus/microbus name.

dfordmanjack, also thanks for the clarifications. I was not able to make sense of the large script on the bus... Reminds me of the hard to read painted phrase "Charlie Croker Tours", or possibly "Croker's Luxury Tours" on the 6-wheeled blue tour bus in the original "The Italian Job" (1969).

Growing up with German parents, my dad would sometimes call me "Knirps" when I was still a squirt. Or "Stoepsel" (plug). The German collapsible umbrella brand Knirps was popular decades ago, small enough to fit into a briefcase or even a medium ladies' handbag. |
