Don't baby it. Go find a hill and run it up hard in 2nd or 3rd gear then decelerate on the way down. Do that 2 or three times to get it hot and the rings to seat then go home and change the oil, let it cool and check/adjust the valves. |

Break it in like you plan to drive it.
You need the rings to seat or you'll have blowby. _________________ Glenn

I know I read here recently that you should mix race fuel with premium pump fuel with compression that high. |
Not with that camshaft. |

More internet bullshit, 10.5:1 isn’t that high. my 2276 is 10:1 and runs fine on 99 octane, I know plenty of people with 11:1 plus who run on pump fuel with zero issues
As for break in: do cam burn, change oil, filter & lash the valves. Drive it as you intent to in order to bed it in then after 500 miles and service it again. If it’s built properly it will be fine 💪🏻 |

Yea lots of internet bullshit. I won't run more than 9.5 CR with pump gas.
I want my engines to last 60K-80K and be able to make a 3 hr road trip.
FYI... Octane in the USA is measured using the (R+M)/2 method and a lower number than the RON used in Europe and other countries that is a higher number.
USA 87 = 91 RON
USA 91 = 95 RON _________________ 2017 Street Comp Champion - Thunder Valley Raceway Park - Noble, OK

People aren't building 2276+cc with FK10s to last 60k miles. |
40K if the heads last that long. _________________ Glenn

FWIW there is a 76 station in Manteca, Ca. (up by me) that sells VP110 leaded out of the pump. _________________

Got a gas station here in Indio that sells sunoco 100 unleaded and vp 110 leaded at the pumps.
If you were running a stock cam at 10.5 I'd be worried about engine ping, but a web 86c he'll be just fine. |

At what octane will he be fine?
You can run a stock cam at 10.5 CR without any ping If you run high enough octane to support it.
Just because you do not hear any pinging that does not mean you are not doing any damage to your engine. _________________ 2017 Street Comp Champion - Thunder Valley Raceway Park - Noble, OK

I run a j&s safeguard. It hears the ping you don’t. 91 octane on that size of engine at that compression will be no problem. |
