Might be an option. I don't know if this is US or NZ dollars. They show shipping of $29 to me in Hawaii. Seems pretty reasonable considering what I pay for shipping from mainland US.

Thanks man! I'll check them out. have you tried them yet?

No. I probably will, though- I'm finding other intriguing parts on their site. I'm looking for alternatives to a bone-stock exhaust for my 40hp build and found this thread. Seems like a good way to go for a mild hopup. Cheaper than an extractor and keeps the stock look, which I want.

Same here, looking for a few extra ponies with stock look and sound, other than maybe a little deeper. I already have a loud VW, wanting to keep this one fairly quiet.

I went ahead and ordered a pair from them. With the exchange rate it wasn't too bad. I'll be sure to post my impressions here once I get and install them.

I just ordered a set for my 62 40hp Judson motor. I'm always a sucker for a new trick for the old beetle.

Mine arrived today from New Zealand, in just under 2 weeks. Not bad!

Hopefully I'll have a chance to put them on in the next week or so. I'll post my impressions in this thread or start a new one.

Thanks again to tcoop1100 for pointing me toward https://buzzbug1.myshopify.com/collections/beetle/products/tail-pipe-250mm-stainless-steel Thumbs Up

Good deal. I did notice yesterday that I had two sets of chrome tips and both of those had different inside diameters. Some of the old stock pipes must have been made with performance in mind. When the new TDE pipes arrive I'll take a photo of all three sets for comparison.

I went ahead and ordered a set- hope to have them in a week or so.
Steven- it'll be interesting to see the comparison photos you're speaking of and your thoughts on how the tips compare.

Just got a notice that freight has went up and I need to order again. Price for shipping to the US is now $15 higher. Always something.

My TDE tips are now on the way but the motor in my car decided it wanted to come out and see daylight. Had to teardown the engine this week for blowing oil problem.

Blowing oil from where, just for curiousity's sake?

My pipes showed up yesterday- might even have a motor to hang them on in a couple of months or so. Very Happy

The engine is blowing oil from the oil filer vent tube up into the air filter. I have listed the problem on another post in the vintage speed forum. Thanks for taking the time to reach out. Please read the other post and see what you think.

I plan to install mine this weekend. I'll record some video/sound with the stock tips and the TDEs. I'll post some "butt dyno" impressions too.

I installed my TDE pipes today. You can see videos here on IG including before and after.

I haven't driven it yet, but after I do I'll post my impressions. I can tell you though, they really arent much louder, i measured the sound levels at idle and the TDEs were only like 1 db higher. The chirping, tweeting, fweem... what ever you want to call it, is gone. In its place is a much deeper, sportier sound. I like the fweem though, so if I don't feel a noticeable performance difference I may switch back. We'll see. More to come.
