These families need lots of help. Sometimes these programs are a "vacation" for both the children and the parents.
My wife worked, 23 years, with autistic children at a BOCES school. It took a physical and mental toll on her and she was only with them for 6 hours a day.
My son is a special ed teacher and deals with kids with intellectual disabilities. Be and I volunteered with the Challenger program that is a baseball program for kids.
My son-in-law just became an assistant principal at a private school for autistic children.
Camp Courageous looks like they have great programs.

I don't need a "van", so I made a straight donation.

Making a donation is easy, the real heroes are the parents and professionals that assist.
It really hit me when one day, when I asked my wife how her day was, she started to cry and said one of her kids tied their shoe. She said it made her year. _________________ Glenn

Iowegian is a big supporter of Camp Courageous. We have donated many times to them. They seem to do good work and have a lot of supporters. _________________ Larry in OB

I bought a bunch of tickets for the beetle when it was raffled, a very good cause,I still get the newsletter from them. If anyone sees the news of the raffle, please post a link, as I am sure many of us will buy tickets. |

We have three of those raffle tickets for the bus hanging on the bulletin board. It is a very good cause to support. _________________ Larry in OB

I saw the raffle bus again today. It was involved with the Field Of Dreams baseball game on August 11. Johnny Bench, Alex Rodriguez, David Ortiz, and Kevin Burkhardt autographed it.
There is a clip of the scene with those guys riding in the bus in the link:
