Yeah, I’m sure of it.
Real life horning in big time.
Will get back when I can.

So the concours was more than I expected and less than I had hoped.

Really beautiful setting, full sound stage, great VIP building and food, nice crowd of spectators.

That said, the had room for literally about three times the cars that actually showed up. It is a new venue and for some reason advertising didn’t begin until 6 weeks before showtime.

Only four cars in the “German” category (a 60’s Mercedes Sedan drove up later:

That said, there were some really nice cars there [if the moderators will permit a couple of non-KG photos]:

So, we were a shoe-in for our class, right?
I noticed what looked to me like a high school kid and his younger brother poking around our car. Didn’t spend much time nor express much interest.
I wondered what was going on when they started pouring over the BMWs next to our car, actually getting in and checking them out! I wondered if I should go tell somebody that kids were messing with the cars… until I realized… they were judging them.

I had to leave the show before the awards ceremony but, as I did, one of the organizers (sure we were going to win) took down my information so he could forward the award.

Long story short, no award and I don’t know who won.
Speculate away, people.

They are planning to hold the show there again next year, and I am planning to attend. Do you think it too much to ask if it were judged by someone who was at least born in the same century it was manufactured?

This photo here is exceptional!
(too bad we can spot a sign of some sorts next to it, any photoshopers here willing to sort it?)

Well, kids judging masterpieces is a great recipe for failure, but I can't help but notice that any awards can only be handed to people that can sort the most minutia details.

A-good looking car showing up with all sorts of mismatches:
1-Front Right wheel with tire Valve Stem at 9 hours, hubcap Insignia almost vertical but not aligned with Valve Stem
2-Rear Right wheel with tire Valve Stem at almost 7 hours, hubcap Insignia not vertical but aligned with Valve Stem
3-Front Left wheel with tire Valve Stem at 3 hours, hubcap Insignia not vertical nor aligned with Valve Stem
4-Rear Left wheel with tire Valve Stem at almost 7 hours, hubcap Insignia vertical but upside down and not aligned with Valve Stem
B-Owner or Driver not present to explain why only the Front Right Fender is with a badge
C-Doors with window glass rolled down but not faintly visible, so unsure if present or not
D-No Driving Gloves laid over the passenger seat

... those kids were noticing and couldn't find much more reason to waste their time. If only they had the Fever. Wink

Don’t get me wrong, it was a fun.

Don’t ever expect me to treat it more than that.

So, next on the agenda— the main event:
https://limerock.com/events/historic-festival-40/

Have my application in for the parade and, new to this year (at least to me), an application is required for the Sunday Meeting of the Marques as well. Submitted.

🤞

Amongst my stuff I have a nifty old poster promoting Lime Rock Park.
Unfortunately, it features one of them dang Porchee's.
(maybe I could combine it with a poster of a Low-Nose Ghia.)

Well that's more a gate-mansion than a gatehouse. Very Happy

Millbrook (New York)- were you able to get a photo of your Ghia in front of the vintage Millbrook Diner right in the village?
Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

If you could get a suitable shot with just your Ghia in front on the street and no other cars (likely difficult unless on a weekday), either John Moxon or I could soften the colors to make it look like a faded original photo from the era.

See I am getting closer to your digs Rome!
Of course we entertained it but no there was no parking at all along the whole street— first cool gorgeous day after that heat spell.
Perhaps I’ll try to get off early one morning and have breakfast there and pounce when the time is right!

I have driven by that gatehouse many times but only recently discovered that the Psychedelic Sixties started in the mansion behind it with Timothy Leary setting up camp there and declaring that we need to “Tune in, turn on, and drop out!”

So starting to think about what we might do with our car in the off season.
I’m thinking whatever *we* do, it would be good to have someone do something about the transmission grind in 2nd.

So, think Alex and I can get the transmission out?
Do we get it rebuilt? Do we get one already rebuilt?
Who/where?
