thank you sir! I now know how to install that spring and the latch. It was completely wrong on my car.

Now if I can just get that back window in I believe there are no more PITA jobs left to do on this build.

Done for the weekend. Not much left to do. Passenger seat and door card and kick panel speakers. Rear window too. Then done.

Avoiding the main issue: back window install.

I agree. Just need to have two helpers present at the same time which is apparently more difficult than it sounds. The few people who’ve been helping me out thus far are kind of burnt out on this project 😂

Ac works fine. Have to tighten the belt a bit more as it squeals when the compressor engages.

Stolen beetle. last seen being driven by Baby Yoda sitting on the lap of the Mandalorian. If seen call your nearest Imperial Outpost.

Still throwing fan/ac belt off at high rpm. Alternator is just too far back and not lined up with ac and crank. I see a shim kit from CIP1 to push the pulley rearward recommended in other threads. Is that the best first option?

Weezle - I've used that shim kit for the pulley, successfully. It was a few years back on my '72 Super I sold in 2018, so I don't remember too many details, except that it did resolve my issue. I had one of those after-market degreed pulleys and it was out of whack enough that I had to shim the alternator pulley. I never threw the fan belt, but I didn't have an AC. Was definitely shaving the belt before I added the shims, I remember the alternator face being covered w/rubber dust from the belt rubbing.

Btw....going to be in your neighborhood soon, driving to Miami [EDIT] in the Super for TG, stopping in bOrlando at my brother's place. Good time to do the road trip, not too hot.

give me a text when youre in town, I'll PM you my contact. Come by and I'll show you the Frankenbeetle aka Lt. Dan.

I'm still iffy about going to bug jam. little more than an hour away, most of it at highway speeds. I ordered 4 extra fan belts so I may give it a try but If I loose one almost immediately I'll not chance it.

Belt stayed on last drive. I think if I don't run it to redline 6500rpm it may stay on. I really want to drive it to bug jam this weekend.
