The second one has a decal that says "versuchswagen" on the back. Translates literally to test car, usually the English equivalent of prototype or experimental.

Can anyone else remember the split pickup with two engines, one on top of the other, was used as a recovery truck and had huge oil coolers behind the cab.

I'm sure it was posted on here but there are rather a lot of posts to go through...

AHA here it is!

For just under 13k. I would put a normal drivetrain in it and cruise.

Hideous as it is I have to commend the builder on finishing the job, unlike most of the 3/4 done Frankenstein hacks shown here this one is actually semi smooth and shiny. I don't approve of the concept, but a pat on the back for completing the job is in order IMO.

That car is in one wild junk yard. Creepy mannequin, jeep, dune buggy, and at least three airplane fuselages including what appears to be a Brazilian Air Force Embraer EMB-110. I kind of dig that bugs front end, the rear, not so much.

Imagine back in the day of paperback classifieds and no photos. The seller describes his gullwing creation on the phone and you roll up, excited and cash in hand. Then leave disappointed with cash in hand. I don’t miss those days.

All that work and that’s the best tail light they can come up with? The Zephyr creation looks well done.

Funny, that was my first thought, too. Not necessarily to my liking, but pretty well executed right up to the awful choice in tail lights.

Looks like that rear is bolt-on, there might be a relatively unmolested car under there. I sure hope they worked out a way to feed the engine cool air, I don't see any vents.

Right with you...there are so many better options for a car like that.

There used to be a Zephyr kit on the market. I never paid enough attention to know if that’s one of the kits.
