and the decklid / prop has been sorted. I used a later prop and cut it down a bit to give myself "maximum lift" for an easier time once it's sitting back on the ground.

I have a stock rod set a side in case I need it later.

No oil on the floors I used.
When I sold the bus the floors were still raw showing some signs of flash rust.

What do you do with the doghouse duct & firewall tin when you're installing them in a bus with the early style firewall opening?

Haven't run into that problem yet.

This Portuguese BD is gone, and my others have Vintage Speed engines or 911 style shrouds and no front (firewall) tin

Honestly, if it's a driver, I'd probably just leave the firewall tin out. None of my big motor cars have it and I've never had an issue other than A LOT of dust in the engine compartment. My guess is most of that comes from being 3" off the ground with the A-1 muffler blowing straight down. Very Happy

Another personal project I've been working on at home when I find the time.

1954 Single Cab
356 spindles for the drop and narrow along with a straight axle and 356 brakes all around.
Still rolls on bias ply Firestones.

Another Single Cab we've had in the shop for our local buddy Dave is this 56 Single Cab. I last posted about it back in 2012 when it rolled out of my shop heading for metal work.

It came back for a lot of work to make it roadworthy including, wiring, glass, seals, fuel system install, engine install, etc.

It rolled out a few weeks ago, under its own power for the first time in 20+ years. It'll be coming back in a month or so for an engine upgrade and some other tweaks/additions.

Thanks. It took some work and A LOT of hunting/trial and error to get something that looked right.

The engine is next.

Greg how come a lot of your pics aren't showing up anymore, I tried to show Patric the BD and split rag that you had traded for the Portuguese bus.

Because I didn't take your advice and post them here. I linked them from sites that are no longer around.

Going through and changing that isn't possible because the posts are so old.

Most of my past cars and a few current can be seen here though. The 11G is there.

I've had this 58 15w for a couple of years now.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Two Octobers ago I pulled the tired WW 36hp it came with to do a rebuild, bump the cc, and add some vintage sped parts.

Since then the bus has been sitting. Waiting for free time to finish an upgrade to the running gear as well.

Lately, with the quarantine, I've had time.

Out with the old in with the new.

67 beam with sway bar, steering dampener, late spindles, etc. will make the rise a bit nicer.

Disk brakes and a 67 style master cylinder w/ the front residual valve removed will make stopping much easier.

The previous builder ran the wires for the brake switch through the speedo cable hole, so a "quick" removal of the kick panels to reroute them to the correct location snowballed.

I figured now was the time to replace the worn-out steering box, install the rebuilt trip speedo, rebuilt clock, and rebuilt radio. I also started the 12v conversion.

Later today (or tomorrow) this big nut trans with Fast Fab nose cone will be going in to finish off the drivetrain upgrade.

After all of that, it will go back in the corner of my home garage until the engine is complete.

I pulled my single cab out of storage a few months back and started doing some changes. Seeing so many lay'd out Barndoors on Instagram got to me. I had to make a change.

So far I've done super duper hybrid spindles for massive a bolt-on drop.
16x5.5 wheels and appropriate tires.

This is was mock-up before tires.

While waiting for tires I put a set of 15's on it to roll around. I dig the new stance.

The 5.5" wide front wheels aren't going to work for what I want to do.

I did a quick build-up of a "king crab" style front to get more tuck. While it looked perfect. I had clearance issues.

Tubs and box raise are still needed.
I'm going to do a narrowed stock style beam with later arms, torsions, and needle bearings to get the clearance I need. That's down the road though. For now, it's back into storage.

I've been watching this 1955 Westfalia trailer for over 2 years now. I definitely don't need it, but when the chance to buy it was presented I had to.
Long term plans are a more neutral paint color (the current paint and logos are not original) so I can use it behind any of my buses without looking out of place.

I couldn't pass up a quick photo shoot with the Vendo when it was dropped off though.

It hasn't seen much use over the last few years.
Luckily I had time earlier this year to get a new 2276cc engine installed and do a few other updates like Wilwood disc brakes up front, a dual-stage master cylinder, new "tail lights", and just this weekend one of my favorite plates frames and commercial registration tag,

After 2+ years I finally "finished" my 58 15w

I ended up running a 2054cc engine instead of the Okrasa so I could keep the Big Nut trans happy cruising uphill.

I figured I could make the 2054cc look just as cool.

New bumpers, trim, and rubber

Misc. interior and exterior pieces.

It's no museum piece, it's a really nice driver though Cool

Bad ass. Love the early 15’s. TBH, I’ve always thought they are a lot better looking than a 23. The solid roof of a SWR/CB 15 looks so clean without all the skylights.

Wow! I think that's the prettiest bus I've seen in a long time. Sadly most are "patina" specials or completely over-done. Well done Sir. Applause Applause Applause
