OOOO, this is pretty:
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1953-volkswagen-beetle-10/
Let's pick it apart. I'll start: The distributor hold down should be plated, not painted.
OK now your turn.

I want two of the correct wipers.
Hood latch is painted black.
Engine pillows need to be stuffed up further.
condenser wire
Is that flat top 383 distributor right for a 36hp 53?
I'd move the wire trapped under the left side mudflap bracket and add the grommets to the fender where the taillight wire passes through.
Its a lovely car!

Shouldn't 53' have the 4-brick crest?
Seriously unforgivable to miss that detail. It's a parts car at this point. _________________

I'm thinking the overhead net is after market. As much as I like accessories, it's a little overdone. What? no parcel shelf? I do really like the garage. |

It´s has the correct 25 Hp engine. 30/36 Hp came in December -53.
Regulator looks wrong (and so do the ugly fenderskirts). |

The door contact switches have modern looking Philips screws....they should still be slotted. But all is forgiven, since this rolling accessory showcase appears to have the correct intake manifold. _________________ "Criticism comes easier than Craftsmanship"

Personally I like the skirts although it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. For some reason I think they usually look better on the low tail light cars. _________________ GFK

Door handles should be horizontal.

Also correct carburetor and air cleaner!
I would guess the generator is from an auto choke engine.

All this work and they leave the tar paper pads and thin layer of batting off from under the rear window, so the center rib sticks out from behind the headliner. _________________ Thanks,

OMFG how many times have I seen this! They spend 10s of thousands of dollars restoring it and leave out the padding under the back window.

And they go to what looks like a lot of time working the body, but can't remove that filler around the edge of the contact switch? It's got a blob of bondo... that's nicely painted rather than a quick sanding to clean it up. (and I'd be showing the letter from VW saying the motor is an original match to the car.) |
