Should be like the pic below. If youve covered them up, you can remove the bellows for the cool air on the motor and reach in to find the capture nuts welded inside.

Interesting idea. I have a couple shaped like big washers that I used on a steel sump-plate. Just have to find them. Rolling Eyes

Progress has been made. Feel like I've turned the corner on the rear pop-out windows.

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?p=...ff#9901170

Got the inside mirror installed.

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=771034

Gonna go back and take another shot at the seat mounts. But what's in there now is enough so I can move the car in and out of the barn.

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=770883

I now know where to get an alignment done.

https://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=770680

And I have the title, registration and PLATES in hand. Very Happy

Max

Today me and Mrs Max took a shot at roping in the left popout. While it was not a resounding success, we learned a few things for the next attempt.

But it seemed worth a picture before we took it back out. Wink

Can someone tell me what thread is the mirror mounting boss in a 67 door?

Mine has paint clogging the threads and I need to clean it up.

Not sure, but a small brass wire brush would work.

I found a different mirror with a groove in the thread to clear out the paint. It worked but not as clean as I like.

The thread turns out to be m16 x 1.50. I have a tap on the way.

Take a bolt with that pitch and cut a groove with a Drexel. That will be a clean out tool.

Can someone tell me how the hood seal should be oriented? Not obvious to this airman.
