Hello! I'm in the process of painting my bug Strato Silver Smile
I ordered a L227 paint test and it's pretty bad. It's just a flat silver.
Do you guys have other/modern paint codes you have used? And a pic of it.
So I can get something to start with, its difficult here to get someone to mix paint by eye. They just want the code and not complicate things xD

I realy like this version

There is also a Porsche 944 color, Sapphire Blue Metallic, code LY5V that is a close match.

If you have the original tailight or license light housings, the paint inside is usually not faded, so you have those to compare against paint chips.

Think Strato Silver have at least 100 different shades these days.... Shocked

Glasurit made the original paint.

Best is to find a part with the old paint to scan.

Have you tried Glasurit? They have translated the old formulars into new ones for the todays paint system. They are very acurate.

Glasurit comes from Germany!
And it seems as they have the formular!

Write them an email and ask for a paintshop near you that works with their products.

I emailed Glasurit and several paintshops that offer there paint about Stratos, it's been almost two weeks now and no replies.
Im starting to feel the paintshops here are lazy 😆
Not wanting to work with you if you have a special mix requirement

Give the paintshops near you a call, if they work with Glasurit. If you find one, they could mix the paint for you easily, as they have the code in their database.
Here in Germany, it is not so hard to find one, from where are you?

Guessing by his name VWBUBBLA63, I would say he is from Sweden. Bubbla is the Swedish name for beetle.
